Leroy Shoemaker

Leroy, age 93, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ruth; children, Marcella Pace, Nannette McCarty, and Richard Shoemaker; nine grandchildren, Tammy, Robert, Joni, Levana, Bonnie, Eva, Jason, Steven, and Melissa; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Naomi and Cleo. Leroy was preceded in death by his son, Paul Shoemaker. Leroy was an active member of First United Methodist Church, serving for over 50 years on numerous church committees, including the Sacramento Methodist Assembly, Wesley Kids, and the United Methodist Men's group. He designed and built the cross hanging in the FUMC tower. He was always concerned for his community and his neighborhood. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 21, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Leroy's memory to the Sacramento Methodist Assembly, 106 Assembly Circle, Sacramento, NM 88347.
