Age 88, of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Hospice Care unit at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital. LeRoy was born in October of 1926 in La Verne, California to Leon and Ruth (Hershey) Paulson. He attended Bonita Union High School and in 1944 joined the war effort with the Merchant Marines where he served in the Pacific conflict. In 1945, at the end of WWII, LeRoy joined the US Army where he served at Salton Sea and was soon assigned to the Manhattan Project at Kirtland Army Air Field in Albuquerque where he met the love of his life, Lenora Paschall. LeRoy and Lenora were wed in May of 1948. LeRoy began his 38-year career with Sandia National Labs in 1949. He was involved in numerous and varied highly technical projects tied to our nation's defense complex. LeRoy was very proud of his time and duties spent with Sandia Labs and cherished the many friendships forged during his work there. Upon retiring, he served several years as a docent with the National Atomic Museum. LeRoy also spent several years as a volunteer leader with Troop 166 and the Sandia District of the local council of the Boy Scouts of America. LeRoy was a longtime member of Hoffmantown Church and dearly loved his Sunday school family and his relationship with Jesus Christ. LeRoy was predeceased in death by his wife, Lenora in June of 2014 and by his daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Conner in May of 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Michael Hebert of Bonney Lake, WA and their sons, Joshua, Lucas and Jared Hebert, all of Washington; his son, Stephen and wife, Shelley Paulson of Kodiak, AK and their sons, Christopher and Chad Paulson, both of Oahu, HI; and grandchildren, Jake and Zoey Conner of Fairbanks, AK. LeRoy had three great-grandchildren, Darien, Madison and Ava Hebert of Washington. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made in LeRoy's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
