Leroy Lovato age 92, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, N.M. passed away on Saturday November 4, 2023, in Albuquerque, N.M.
He was born in Albuquerque, N.M., on July 10, 1931, to Larry Lovato and Emma Martinez. He was the eldest son of 7 brothers.
He served 4 years in the United States Army in which he served during the Korean War. After his service in the United States Army, he went on to work for the Santa Fe Railroad where he retired from.
He was a devoted Catholic and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels church in Rio Rancho, NM. In his spare time,he liked to volunteer at his local senior center, he enjoyed traveling, and loved doing yard work as he had a green thumb with plants and flowers.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Larry and Emma Lovato; brothers: Richard Lovato, Rudy Lovato, Ray Gene Lovato, Ross Lovato, Jerry Lovato, and Bernie Lovato; maternal grandmother: Margaret Martinez; paternal uncle and aunt who were special to him Fred and Frances Lovato.
He is survived by a special ex-wife who he shared 53 years of marriage with: Dora Lovato; two sisters-in-law: Frances Lovato and Cynthia Lovato; Goddaughters: Dorothy Garcia and Melodie Macias; special person who he was a Padrino to: Flora Segura; He also leaves a cherished Nephew Jude Lucero and other numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many special friends.
A Family viewing will be held November 24, 2023 at 10:30 am with ceremony to follow at 11:00 am at French Mortuary Westside 9300 Golf Course rd NW Albuquerque, N.M. 87114 Interment will follow and take place at 2:00 pm Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M.
