Leroy Walker "Pops" Chambers

Leroy "Pops" Walker Chambers, 72, was born on July 30, 1942 to Walker J. Chambers and Mae Whitby in Philadelphia, PA. He went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2015, surrounded by loved ones in Albuquerque, NM. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather extraordinaire. His love was felt by everyone who crossed his path. He is survived by his wife, Pam; sons, Leroy W. Jr., of Midland, TX, Tyrone L. and wife Ryan, Curtis A. and wife Jennifer, Michael P. and wife Claudia - all of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Stephanie, and husband Chase Ables, of Houston, TX; step-son Mark Herrera, and daughter Rachael Chambers, both of Albuquerque; and his first daughter-in-law, Darling Collins, of Midland, TX. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren: Leroy III, Keith, Tracy, Amber, Phillip, Gabriel, Gabriel, Tenisha, Katherine, Jordan, Gabriel, Dominic, Alycia, Michael, Christina, Jonathan, Trinity, Lilah, Elijah, Estevan, and Malachi; and seven great-grandchildren: Joseph Jr., Bryonna, Isaiah, Julyssa, Zaidyn, Miles, and one on the way, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Anthony Jay Chambers, and granddaughter, Rinoa Herrera. Leroy served in the United States Air Force for 20 years during the Vietnam War era, earning multiple awards and medals. He also embarked on numerous business ventures, which helped establish and cement solid work ethics within all of his children. A Public Viewing will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the services at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. FRENCH - University 1111 University Blvd. NE 505-843-6333
