Leonardo "Leo" Garcia

August 2, 1921 — August 4, 2012

LEONARDO R. "LEO" GARCIAAge 91, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 4, 2012. He is survived by his sons, George L Garcia and wife, Connie and David A. Garcia and wife, Tina; daughter, Rebecca M.Chavez and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Richard R. Chavez, David A. Garcia Jr., Elizabeth A. Chavez, George L. Garcia Jr. and wife, Roxanne, Steven T. Chavez, Rochelle R. Garcia, and Nichole F. Garcia; great-grandson, Jordan Garcia; and great-granddaughter, Brianna Garcia. Leo was preceded in death by his wife Mary of 60 years and all of his siblings. Leo served in the US Army during World War II. He was co-founder of the El Modelo Tortilla Factory with his parents in the 1940's. Leo enjoyed traveling and his greatest adventures were hunting in South Africa and Salmon fishing in Alaska. He was also a dedicated and active member in his church, LDS, Sage Ward for many years. Leo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him Services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sage Ward, 8130 Sage Rd SW, with Patriarch Larry Luna, officiating, with a meal to follow. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Richard Chavez, Orlando Chavez, Dominic Otero, David A. Garcia Jr., George L. Garcia Jr. and Steven T. Chavez.
