Love is Perfection the Third Time Around

Leo Emmanuel Morris (September 13, 1936 - October 26, 2023)

Margaret Virginia Morris (August 10, 1938 - June 5, 2024)  

Leo and Margaret met one another in 1952, riding the city bus one day after school and their love story ensued.  Leo, awestruck, walked several miles a day to spend just a few minutes with Margaret on her front porch before it was time for her to come inside for the evening.  The two were each other’s first loves; they became engaged and ready to spend the rest of their lives together.  However, in 1955, Leo joined the Navy and he and Margaret went their separate ways. Margaret married and had seven children. Leo married and had three children.  Years passed and in 1981, the love they shared many years prior was reignited when their paths met again.  The two were finally joined in holy matrimony on June 6, 1992 and remained by one another’s side until Leo’s passing in 2023.  Margaret, broken-hearted, missed her husband dearly and was called home to Heaven on June 5, 2024. 

Shared below is an excerpt from a love letter written in 1981 by Leo to Margaret.  It reads:

“Our love my darling, is not earthly.  It is the love that poets write about and philosophers try to explain; that most people hunger for but never attain.  In true fact, it is better the second time around.”

On June 6, 2024, Leo and Margaret celebrated their thirty-second wedding anniversary together in Heaven, making their love for each other now perfection the third time around. 

Combined, Leo and Margaret have Ten children, Danny DeGowin, Lisa Rivera (pre-deceased 2022), Michael Morris, Michael Callison, Jay Callison, Teresa Callison, Phillip Callison, Gregory Callison (pre-deceased 2022), Virginia Callison Bonanno, Joanne Callison Alvidrez, Eighteen grandchildren: Brianna Rivera Weathersby, Brooke Rivera, Lisa Rivera McCollum, Josh Rivera, Navetta Callison, Phillip Callison, Jr., Brittany Shakira Terrell-Singleton, Rachel Williams, Jackie Callison, Benjamin Callison, Dino Bonanno, Jr., Corine Pesantes, Michael Lawrence Callison, Evanmichael Callison, Alyxandria Callison, Christian Salinas, Gregory Parker Callison, Michaelclark Callison, Nineteen great-grandchildren: Tye Weathersby, Taylor Weathersby, Teigan Weathersby, Tatum Weathersby, Tarynn Weathersby, Hannah McCollum, Kade Callison, Lillian Callison, Cash Callison, Amara Rakaikos, Scarlett Williams, Jude Williams, Racheal Pesantes, Alexis Pesantes, Maverick Pesantes, Michael Callison, Jr., Christopher Callison, Maisie Brock, Kieran Callison, God-daughter: Leslie McLaughlin, Sons-in-Law: Anthony Rivera, Richard Alvidrez, Andy Hunt, Daughters-in-Law: Linda Pierson, Lauri Callison, Claire Morris, Ali DeGowin and many dearly loved close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held 5-7 pm August 9, 2024, at French Funerals and Cremations at 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE. A dual memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Morris will be held 10 am August 10, 2024 at Risen Savior Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.   Notice of memorial will be posted at a later date.
