Lenore Mastin was a loving mother, friend and educator. She is survived by her children, Sara Bauman and her husband Pat; her son, Paul Mastin, and Mary Haynes; and her husband Brian. She is also survived by her sister, Alice, and many nieces and nephews.
As a young girl she dreamt of attending college and doing something with her life. To that end she began working at a young age to start saving money for her future. She attended the University of Minnesota, St. Cloud. She earned a teaching degree and a Fine Arts degree. Once she graduated from college with a BA she looked for a nice warm place to live and work, and that was here in New Mexico where she married and began a family. She raised her family while teaching at various schools in NM. She also earned a Masters Degree in Education and started the gifted program at Van Buren Middle School. Many of her former students still send cards to thank her for her guidance and support.
Donation to organizations such as Operation Smile Train and Sunflower Sanctuary were a huge part of her life. She was also President of the New Mexico March of Dimes and served on the Albuquerque Council of International Visitors. She loved books, golf, bridge, children and animals. She had a life well lived and a light has gone out of the world.
She will be missed by all who know her.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the organizations listed above.
