Lenore M. Alvarado

Lenore "Nora" Alvarado, 92, born in Kansas City, Missouri, and a life-long resident of Las Vegas, NM, was called to her eternal resting place on February 23, 2017 at her residence in Rio Rancho, NM.
She was married to her best friend and love of her life John B. Alvarado for 77 years. Together they raised their family and continued their education. She attended New Mexico Highlands University and received her Bachelor of Arts and Master's Degree in Elementary Education.
Mrs. Alvarado was a professional educator teaching school for 30 years in the North Public, Union Street Elementary School, and a part of the New Mexico State and Local Retired Teachers Association. Her inspirational role as an educator was never forgotten as she could rarely go somewhere without seeing former students who would thank her for teaching them.
Nora was an active member in the community sharing her loving and spunky personality with all. She showed her generous spirit by being a member of The Woman's Club, providing support for young women, and a Diamond member the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a devout Catholic and life-long member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her loving children, Charles Alvarado and wife, Clara of Mesa, AZ, John Richard Alvarado and wife, Elizabeth of Rio Rancho, NM, and Rosanne Pino and husband, Manuel of Las Vegas, NM; sister, Margaret Aragon; and sister-in-law, Marie Alvarado.
Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren; Carlos Alvarado, Melissa and children, Christopher Alvarado and children, Juan J. Alvarado and children, Maria Livingston and Joseph, Teresa Gomez, Marcus and child, Antonio Alvarado, Renae and children, Jena Pino and children, Mathew Pino, Megan Pino, Romaine Trujillo and Derik, Rosalina Chavez, Robert and children, and RuthieAnn Trujillo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonino Madrid and Eulalia Gonzales Madrid; husband, John B. Alvarado; brother, Jose Lino Madrid; and granddaughter, Contessa Ann Alvarado.
A Rosary will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 8:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 403 Valencia St., Las Vegas, NM.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Carlos Alvarado, Christopher Alvarado, Juan J Alvarado, Antonio Alvarado, Lucas Alvarado, Tomas Alvarado, and Calvin Alvarado.
Nora Alvarado will be laid to rest at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
