Lenora Bell (Robbins) Vertz

October 1, 1934 — September 21, 2022

By God's Grace, Here Was a Life of Love and Laughter

Lenora Bell Vertz, best known as "Corky", passed away on September 21, 2022, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's Disease, which she faced with strength, grit, and her unique and well-known humor.

Corky was born on October 1, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Claude Dee Robbins and Eithel Matney Robbins, the sixth of seven children. In 1955, Corky was married to Roland "Rollie" Vertz in Wisconsin. They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1964 with their three young children. Throughout her years in Albuquerque, Corky was an active volunteer in the Republican Women's Club as well as numerous other organizations. She worked in the private sector and finished her working career in the Albuquerque Public Schools. Corky was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church. Corky developed many friendships throughout the years. Corky's sense of humor, wit and distinctive laugh will be dearly missed. That sense of humor is how she became known as Corky - "a real corker!" She was a wonderful mother to her three children and Gramma Corky adored her five grandkids.

Corky is survived by her daughter Robin Hoberg (husband, Bill); grandson Rick (wife Amanda, and great granddaughter Jordan); grandson Tom (wife Erin), and granddaughter Jayme; son Tim Vertz (wife, Barbara); and grandsons Ben, and Andrew (wife Elizabeth); and son Michael Vertz; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews throughout the country.

Corky was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rollie, her brother David, and sisters, Leona, Virginia, Charlotte, Imogene, and Patricia.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the many loving, attentive staff members at Las Colinas Retirement Village, Morning Star Memory Care at Northridge and Hospice De La Luz.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Providence Presbyterian Church, located at 13801 Encantado Road NE - 87123.
