Leman Taylor, Jr was born Wednesday, August 29, 1951, in Alexandria, Louisiana to Leman and Carnell Taylor. The family moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1952. In High School Leman participated in band and was on the basketball and baseball teams. He graduated from Alamogordo High School and immediately followed his dream to Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona on a baseball scholarship. After one year, he transferred to New Mexico Highland University and continued to play baseball for the next three years. After his senior year at New Mexico Highland University, he received a tryout with the Houston Astro, Major League Baseball Team. Shortly thereafter he moved to Houston, Texas and remained there until he moved back home to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1978.
He was employed at DynCorp, a Defense Contractor, on Holloman Air Force Base. He and his brother, Greg, decided to open up a night club called Atrium. He married his wife, Dawn in 1996. He relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico when his brother convinced him to help him their business, Popeyes. They were successful in the family business for 16 1/2 years.
Leman parted this life peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leman and Carnell Taylor; and his sister Jean Blondie Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Dawn Taylor; two sons, Karisman Taylor and his wife Francesca, of Houston, Texas and Christopher Robinson and his wife Monique, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Gregory Taylor and his wife Debra of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Thomas Nash of Houston, Texas; one sister, Nannette Taylor Williams of Haver de Grace, Maryland; six grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH- Westside.
Repast will be held immediately after service at 10519 Bilboa St. NW.
