Lee Dale Pompeo, age 88, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
Lee Pompeo was born in Maxwell, New Mexico on September 24, 1930 to James Pompeo and Nellie Angelina Pompeo. He was married to Haruna (Kay) Oishi on July 19, 1956. Kay preceded Lee in death in 1997. Lee was also preceded in death by his son, Edward Robert Pompeo in 1994; and brothers, Eugene R. Pompeo and Thomas R. Pompeo.
Lee is survived by his daughter, Lorraine Leigh Dekle; son-in-law, Gregory L. Dekle; daughter-in-law, DyAnne M. Pompeo; grandchildren, Samantha M. Pompeo, Thorin J. Pompeo, Elizabeth R. Pompeo, Ryan E. Dekle, and Derek A. Dekle; great-grandchildren, Sparrow J. Pompeo and Jasey R. Pompeo; sister, Carol G. Pettit; sister-in-laws, Laura M. Pompeo and Margaret R. Pompeo; and several nieces and nephews.
Lee enlisted in the Army in 1951. Lee served in the Korean War and two tours in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army in 1971 after 30 years of service. Lee completed an Associate Degree at T.V.I. where he remained as a diesel mechanic instructor until his retirement.
Lee enjoyed fishing, woodworking, attending his grandsons’ baseball games, and visiting at the casinos.
Lorraine would like to thank everyone who appreciated or tolerated Lee’s unique sense of humor. He was truly, extraordinary.
Services will be held Friday, April 12, 2019, 6:30 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Friends may visit beginning at 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place Saturday, April 13, 2019, 12:00 p.m., at Maxwell Cemetery, Maxwell, NM.
