Age 81, passed away September 16, 2014. He was born in Kinsley, KS to Ralph and Helen Gatterman. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Geta Aileen; his children, Katherine Chapman of Portland, OR, Michael D. Gatterman of Hilton Head Island, SC, David D. Gatterman and wife, Melinda of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lucas and Amelia; brother, Michael K. Gatterman and wife, Genevieve and son, Thomas of Aurora, CO; and many other family and friends. Dean attended high school in Kinsley, Kansas. In 1952 he entered the U.S. Navy Air Cadet program. He received his wings in 1954 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. In a Navy program, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma, where he met and married his wife Geta Aileen. His service in the Navy sent him to both European and Asian postings, including in Vietnam. His last tour of duty was as an instructor at the Naval Weapons School at Kirtland Air Force Base. After retirement as a Lt. Commander, he had a second career as a real estate agent and an insurance agent in Albuquerque. He participated in civic activities and was an active and avid participant in the musical and sports activities of his children. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Nedra. Friends may visit Friday, September 19, 2014, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Services will be Saturday, September 20, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution NE, Albuquerque. Burial will take place Monday, September 22, 2014, 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J.
