Lawrence Stewart

Born February 1, 1922, in Minnesota, passed away June 3, 2013, in Albuquerque, NM, at the age of 91. Lawrence served in the Pacific Theater during WWII as a flight engineer, flying 35 missions with a top-notch crew. After the war, he attended Michigan Technological University and received a mechanical engineering degree. He and his wife, Jeanette (nee Fowler) moved to Roswell, and later to Albuquerque, where he worked as a safety engineer for the Air Force Weapons Lab until retirement in the mid-80s. Lawrence loved flying, making models, rock hunting, and gardening. While he could be stubborn as a mule, he was unfailingly kind-hearted and generous. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette. Survivors include daughter, Patricia Van Deusen and son-in-law, Stuart; grandson, Ian and sister, Corinne Stewart as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. A Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A Service will be held at FRENCH - Lomas on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Those wishing to honor Lawrence's memory may make donations to the Michigan Tech Fund, 1400 Townsend Dr., Houghton, MI 49931, indicating on the memo line that the donation is for the Jeanette Fowler Stewart Scholarship Fund in memory of Lawrence W.
