Lawrence Leon Cooley

Lawrence Leon "Jack" Cooley went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 25th, 2022, at the age of 94. Jack was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jack was born in Bald Knob, Arkansas on September 26, 1928. He served in the U.S. Airforce from 1947-1950. He married Andrea Roybal on May 6, 1950, and together they had 6 children. He was a truck driver by trade up until the time he retired. He loved to team rope and was a member of the Southwest Roping Club. His favorite horse was a mare named Choice. Fishing was also a favorite pastime to do with his grandchildren. Later on, in his 70s, he started playing tennis which became a frequent pastime.

Jack loved the Lord. He was very active in church and made it a priority to lead his children and grandchildren to know and except Christ into their lives.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, George Cooley and Pansie Collison; brother, George Cooley; sisters, Linnie Morton and Vera Risenor; and wife, Andrea Cooley.

He is survived by his children, Linnie Durham and husband, Lee of Albuquerque, NM; Janet Dedmon and husband, Craig of Elk City, OK; Larry Cooley and wife, Shalmarie of Albuquerque, NM; Eva Cooley of Yukon, OK; Gale Cooley of Albuquerque, NM; and Tom Cooley and wife, Lee Ann of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Andrea Atkerson and husband, Robert of Albuquerque, NM; Phillip Barncastle of Creston, IA; Valerie Mills and husband, Monte of White Oak, TX; Nacolh Vickrey and husband, Dusty of Minco, OK; Ace Cooley of Edgewood, NM; Megan Godwin and husband, Quintin of Glenwood Springs, CO; Josh Dedmon of Oklahoma City, OK; Alisia Corsino and husband Elisio of Las Vegas, NV; Hunter Dedmon of Elk City, OK; Laramie Sitzman and husband Paul of Timnath, CO; and Mark Dunlap of Albuquerque, NM; great-grandchildren, Ashley Lucero and husband, Enrique of Albuquerque, NM; McKenna Cox and husband, Cody of Weatherford, OK; Zachary Atkerson and wife Crista of Albuquerque, NM; Cameron Mills of White Oak, TX; Shelby Riggs of Minco, OK; Beau Barncastle, USAF; Kendrick Mills of White Oak, TX; Jackson Riggs of Minco, OK; Triston Barncastle of Creston, IA; Weston Cooley of Edgewood, NM; Wyatt Cooley of Edgewood, NM; Daxton Dedmon of Oklahoma City, OK; Evelyn Sitzman of Timnath, CO; and Stellan Sitzman of Timnath, CO; and great-great-grandchildren, Scarlett Lucero of Albuquerque, NM; Ellis Cox of Weatherford, OK; and Lucero triplets due soon.

A Celebration of Jack's life will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Westside with a reception to follow. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery 501 N. Guadalupe St. Santa Fe, NM following the service and reception.
