Laurencia Williams

August 6, 1945 — January 31, 2025

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Laurencia Williams, a woman whose unwavering love, extraordinary kindness, incredible humility, infectious humor, and remarkable resilience shaped the lives of everyone she met. Laurencia passed away suddenly in her home on January 31st, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to her family and friends.

Born into poverty in Mexico, Laurencia's early life was filled with challenges. Though her family struggled, Laurencia rarely spoke of these hardships, instead focusing on the present and the love she had for her family.

Laurencia's journey to a better life was shaped by her kind and forgiving heart, patience, humility, and generosity. A devoted daughter to Aurora and wife to John and a loving mother to Laurie, Clifford, and Melanie, Laurencia's greatest joy was always her family. She was also a proud grandmother to Victoria, Angela, Shane, Mark, and James and a cherished great-grandmother to Justin. Laurencia's quiet strength, thoughtfulness, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

A lover of tennis, music, and art, Laurencia's home was filled with the beauty of Monet and Van Gogh's paintings, top musicians' CDs, and tennis rackets. In her 30's and 40's, she played tennis on most days and won many tennis tournaments. Throughout her life, she loved music and often shared her favorite tunes from the latest Top 40 hits; she was the "coolest" among us. Although she didn't paint or draw frequently, when she did, her work was incredible.

She took immense pride in caring for others, whether cooking a favorite meal, keeping us informed of the latest weather and news updates, or offering a listening ear. Laurencia's loving nature shone through in everything she did. She also loved sending the latest puppy of the month photo, which always made us smile. Her humorous take on the world made her a joy to be around, and her clever remarks could make anyone laugh, even during the most trying of times.

Laurencia's life, one of unwavering love and kindness, was unmatched. She left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her legacy of kindness and humor will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A memorial service to honor Laurencia's life will be held at French Funerals on Wyoming Blvd in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Monday February 10, at 10:30 am. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Rest in peace, Laurencia. You will forever be loved, always remembered, and never forgotten.
