Laurence David Willard, 69, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, September 19, 1952, and worked in aviation as a civil servant across numerous states on several military bases.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence V. and Chrystine Willard, former spouse Virlinda A. Hollenbeck, and son Michael L. Hollenbeck.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Heather A. and Chris M. Sanchez; daughter and son-in-law, Christina L. and John Bentz; grandchildren, Lukas E. Gordon, Matthew I. Bentz, Lauren M. Sanchez, David C. Sanchez, and Matthew L. Santillanes; sister Cheryl and brother-in-law Cliff Currier; brother Steve and sister-in-law Judy Willard; nephews Ben Currier, Alan Willard, Kevin Willard, and Owen Currier; nieces Margaret Currier, Brianna Willard, and Ella J. Willard; as well as many countless family and friends.
Laurence David was a lifelong lover of cars from NASCAR to Hot Rods to his own personal cars which he helped to restore. He was a proud member of the NRA and was a known outdoorsman with a great fondness for all types of fishing including the legendary deep-sea fishing in the Florida Keys. He enjoyed a quiet retirement until his passing by spending time with his family and flying his extensive collection of drones. He will be missed by family and friends.
The Albuquerque service will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Wyoming with a reception to follow. 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. The Artesia service will be held on Friday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 322 W Grand Ave., Artesia, NM 88210. Burial to proceed at the Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, with a reception to follow at the Artesia County Club, 2701 W. Richey Ave., Artesia, NM 88210.
