Laura Olivia Vazquez-Castillo

Laura Olivia Vazquez-Castillo, age 75, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully, and surrounded by love on May 9, 2024. Laura was known for her kind spirit, strength, and intelligence. Laura received her master's degree in business administration and retired from Bernalillo County as the Director of Risk Management. She loved to dress up, getting her nails done and making sure her hair was just right, she especially loved her fancy hats, and of course she had to have her bling. Laura loved to eat at her favorite restaurants (of course only vegetarian). She enjoyed watching tv (especially mysteries and classic movies), singing and drawing, and making people laugh. She would keep us "in line" in her own special way. She so wisely advised us to "write it down" every time we mentioned that we had something to do! She will be forever missed but will be with us always. Everyone she met fell in love with her immediately. She had a never-ending faith and strong relationship with God. She was always positive and persevered in her amazing recovery after her first stroke. She was a true miracle in so many ways. She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Jesus Vazquez; her mother, Rosario DeAnda-Vazquez, and her beloved grandson Christopher James Jordan. She is survived by her dedicated husband of 52 years, Rudy Joe Castillo; her loving daughter, Melissa Michelle Castillo-Jordan; the love of her life and most precious granddaughter, Alexis Marie Jordan, and her cherished son in law Randall Glenn Jordan. A memorial will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 3:00 PM at French Westside 9300 Golf Course RD NW, Albuquerque NM 87120.
