We are sad to announce the passing of Laura Patricia "Lucero" Garcia. She left us on Friday, May 13th, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren after a brief illness. She was the most beautiful person inside and out. She was deeply loved by her family and extended family. She was born to Perfilio and Predicanda Lucero in Moquino, New Mexico. She grew up in Moquino/Seboyeta until the family relocated to Albuquerque in the early 1940s. Tragically, her father Perfilio was tragically taken from them shortly after moving to Albuquerque when she was only 12 years old. She lived the rest of her life with a broken heart over the loss of her dad. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1950 and went on to meet and marry the love of her life; Richard Garcia on April 12th, 1952. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary shortly before her passing. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard W. Garcia Sr. and her four children, Richard W. Garcia II, his wife Loyann Garcia, Mark Garcia, Patrick Garcia, his wife Pamela Garcia, and Lauralynn Garcia. Her grandchildren, Richard III, Noel, Alec, Nicole, Eden, Trevor, Logan, Emma, Nolan, Mark, Kayden, Ryenne, McKaylynn, and great grandchild, Aalia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she adored and loved each as if they were her own children.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Perfilio and Predicanda Lucero. Her beloved brothers, Ernest, Joe and Christopher Lucero. Her beloved sisters, Rose Marquez, and Fella Stockham. Her beloved granddaughter, Janine Pino-Garcia. She is also preceded in death by her beloved nephews Perfilio "Porfy" Lucero, Eddie Herrera, Ronald Marquez, Renny Lucero, Larry Garcia, Billy Garcia as well as her beloved niece Patti Chavez.
She will be genuinely missed by so many, and we look forward to the day when we will see her again. There'll be no such thing as broken, and all the old will be made new and the thought that makes me smile now, even as the tears fall down, is the only scars in Heaven are on the hands that hold you now.
