LaTrelle Rozell, age 91, beloved mother, was called to her eternal resting place on Friday, June 18, 2021. She entered this world on December 26, 1929, in Clayton, NM, born to John and Alma Cawley. She is survived by her daughters, Dixie Gribble and Jerilou Werick; granddaughters, Vickie Humphrey (Ted), Stephanie Montessi (James), Sherrie Poyer, and Dana Baxley (Paul). She leaves great-grandchildren, Leah Baca (Jared), Sarah Humphrey, Mark Montessi, Tobias Poyer, Ryan, Neal, and John Taylor, Abbygale, Shelby, and Harrison Baxley; great-great-grandchildren, Paislee, Delaney, Bodi, and Jubilee Baca. Also surviving is her sister, Alma Ruth Piper of Wichita, Kansas, and her sister-in-law, Mavis Christ of T or C, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Rozell; son-in-law, Larry Gribble; and granddaughter, Shellie Taylor.
LaTrelle moved to Albuquerque from Oklahoma in 1945 and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1947. LaTrelle's hobbies included ceramics, sewing, gardening, and traveling. She found volunteer and philanthropic work fulfilling for many years. She maintained membership in the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority where she met many cherished friends that volunteered alongside her in the community. She served as the State President of the American Lung Association for two years, represented New Mexico as the State Chairman for the Easter Seals Society, and spent countless hours at The Storehouse NM food pantry. She was a member of Alameda Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 11:30 a.m., at FRENCH - Westside.
Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Sandia Memory Gardens, at 9500 San Pedro Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
