Age 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959 passed away April 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Mariane and his children, Jeff Childs and wife, Denise and Crystal Pritchard and Fiance, Mark Lewis all of Albuquerque. A son, David Childs, predeceased him. He has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Larry was born in Huntington, Indiana on April 7, 1931 and lived there until he went into the Navy in January 1951. He graduated Purdue with a BSME in 1958 and MSIE in 1959 before going to work at Sandia National Laboratories where he retired in 1994. Larry started Miller & O'Niell, Inc. and did remodeling and construction and built Lindal Cedar Homes. He was a major partner in San Juan River Land Development Co. and helped engineer and build a bridge across the San Juan River 18 miles south of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to travel. His first motorhome had 100,000 miles on it before he got a new one. He loved wood working. His grandfather clock won Best of Show at the New Mexico State Fair. Larry always had a garden and shared his vegetables and large dahlias. A Memorial Service will be Friday, May 9, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Interment will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
