In Loving Memory of Larry Lee Berry October 7, 1949 - March 29, 2025
Larry Lee Berry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025 at his home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was 75 years old.
Born on October 7, 1949, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, Larry was a man whose life was built around family, love, and a tireless work ethic. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peggy Louise and Othine Lee Berry, who raised him in a home full of warmth and kindness.
Larry shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Brenda Berry. Together, they built a life centered on love and family. They raised their three children-Carey Ann (Berry) Plant, Thomas Shane Berry (wife Michelle) and Cody Lee Berry (wife Stacie) in Gallup, New Mexico. Later, they moved to Rio Rancho to follow their growing family and embrace the next chapter of their lives.
Larry was very much respected by his friends and coworkers as a skilled carpenter and was a meticulous mechanic, and a man who took pride in doing things right-always with his hands, always with heart. There truly wasn't anything he couldn't figure out or fix. After a short stint as a police officer, he spent many years in the homebuilding industry before transitioning into his new fulltime job as Dad, Daddy, Grandpa, Papa and shadetree mechanic. He was a Chevy guy and had a passion for drag racing, spending many years racing around the country with his family in tow.
He was a proud and loving grandfather, and his grandkids-Seth, Brianna, Sydney, Zachary, Matthew, William, Grady and Noah-were the light of his life. His legacy lives on in them and in his great-grandchildren: Alyra, Abel, Amari, and the newest little blessing, Carley, born just weeks before his passing.
Larry was much loved and looked up to by his siblings: Wade Berry; Becky Holmes and her husband Guy; Peggy Osban and her husband Richard; and Todd Berry. He was a beloved uncle to Kristal, Michael, Hollie, Heather, Annie, David, and Michelle-known to all as "Uncle Larry," they were really just like another of his kids.
Larry was also blessed to be loved by his kids and grandkids life partners, Taneke, Spencer, Bennett and Jon Paul (Jeep) as well as their closest lifelong friends who lovingly called him Pops as he was family to them.
Larry's life was defined by strength, gentle humor, and very deep love. He showed those around him the value of hard work and the importance of family above all else. He will be
missed beyond words but will be carried in our hearts and exemplified forever by the footsteps this family takes.
Larry will be laid to rest after a graveside service at the Holdenville Cemetery on April 11th at 11:00 a.m. The cemetery address is 13th Avenue in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
The family encourages you to share your condolences or fond memories of Larry on this website, by reaching out directly to Carey, Shane and Cody to either share with Mom or to get the direct mailing address. Flowers may be sent to the Hudson Phillips Funeral Home on Thursday April 10th located at 301 E Main St, Holdenville, OK 74848
The family requests that everyone respect our decision to honor Larrys wishes to not have a public gathering for celebration of life after he is laid to rest.
