Larry William Ator

April 4, 1943 — December 17, 2013

Age 70, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in Albuquerque following a short illness. He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Fisher and husband, Chad, and their children, Morgan, Kelton, Bryson, and Evan Fisher all of Imperial, NE and by his daughter, Cathy Hoffart and husband, Chad, and their children, Gabriella and Cecelia Hoffart, of Norfolk, NE. He is also survived by his mother, Beverly Ator of Albuquerque and his sisters, Sharon Seeloff and husband, Phil of Chandler AZ, Carol Ashley and husband, Steven of Albuquerque, Judith Grady and husband, Michael of Albuquerque, Marcia Paz and former husband, Andy of Albuquerque, and several nieces and nephews in Albuquerque, Houston, Chandler, and San Diego. Larry leaves numerous friends throughout New Mexico, including his often mentioned 'girls at Starbucks and the Starbucks' coffee guys' in Albuquerque. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Homer Ator of Albuquerque, and his sister, Linda Bright of Houston. After graduation in 1961 from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, he joined the US Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1968, earned a CPA certification, and began a diverse career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. and other accounting firms. Following business positions in ranching in Nebraska and starting a family there with Marjory Warner Ator, Larry trained as a farrier in Oklahoma and returned to New Mexico where he spent several years caring for horses throughout the state. He later returned to college to study Information Technology and completed his business career in corporate accounting and IT professions. Larry had a long interest in firearms training, gun safety, and competitive shooting and was a proud member of the NRA. Adié�s Larry - your quiet presence will be greatly missed by your family and friends! A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date (guest book visitors will be notified).
