L. Jean Rowe

Died peacefully on November 6, 2013. Born Jean Brannan in McDonald, Pennsylvania, on October 14, 1924, she received her R.N. degree from the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She married Walter Rowe that same year, and his job later brought them to their beloved adopted home, New Mexico, in 1953. Jean was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, wonderful cook and accomplished seamstress. She loved animals, especially horses, and when her health prevented her from riding any longer, she worked at horse shows throughout the state, including the Horse Show Office of the New Mexico State Fair and volunteer work for the Arabian Horse Association. She will be remembered for her kind nature, her warm smile and her amazing plates of Christmas goodies. Jean is survived by Walter, her husband of 68 years; three daughters, Cheryl Foote and husband Bill of Albuquerque; Linda Hardy and husband Bill of Taos-Santa Fe; and Sandra Rowe of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jeremy Foote and wife Lisa Benski and Jennifer Foote and husband Stephen Curtice of Albuquerque, and Tiffany Reynolds and husband James and Kelsey Profitt of Springfield, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremiah, Willow, Addison and Emerson; and a nephew, Bobby Glover of Albuquerque. Private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. A memorial service for Jean will be held on Saturday, November 9, at l:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd. N.E., with the Reverend Beth Purdum officiating. The family thanks Dr. Suzanne Pinon, Deborah Waldman and Alanna Owens, Ty Lueras, Lupe Aragon, Tamara Alfred, Monica Dominguez and Amy Chavez of Whitney House, and caregivers from Retreat at Home, especially Mary Sanchez and Cheryl Martinez, as well as Hospice de la Luz, for their compassionate care of Jean.
