L. Virginia Podvin

L. Virginia Podvin, a resident of Albuquerque since the 1970’s, joined the Lord, her parents, her brother and sister in Heaven on her 93rd birthday, September 22, 2017. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Armedose and Marie Podvin; her brother, Father Albert J. Podvin; and her sister, Sister Catherine Podvin, O.P. of Adrian, MI.

Virginia was born in Detroit, MI on September 22, 1924. She was very close to her brother and sister and spent time with her brother, Fr. Albert Podvin, at parishes where he was assigned throughout the years in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. In her earlier years in Michigan, Virginia worked as a corporate legal secretary at Dow Chemical Company. After arriving in Albuquerque, she worked as a secretary at Quinn and Company, followed by many years at Sandia Labs until she retired. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Albuquerque in 1977, and earned a Master of Arts in Business Administration from Highlands University, Las Vegas, NM in 1979. She was a very active parishioner at Sangre De Cristo Parish where her brother served as Pastor. She had many loving friends and neighbors and thrived at Sangre De Cristo Parish. She will truly be missed.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday, October 17, 2017, 10:30 a.m., at Sangre De Cristo Parish, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her close friends request that those who wish offer Mass in her honor.
