Kip Myers, 65, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 21, after a four year battle with cancer. He fought bravely 'till the very end.
Kip was born in Farmington, New Mexico to Chester "Arley" and Wanda "Alby" (Clements) Myers. He attended Kirtland Central High School and received a Bachelor of Economics/Business from Arizona State University. Following his college graduation, he worked at an orphanage in Mexico, giving him the opportunity to become fluent in Spanish and to be a servant of God. He then worked with his father in the family business and decided to move to Albuquerque in 1986. He became a general contractor building custom homes in Bosque Farms, Albuquerque, East Mountains and Rio Rancho. He built wonderful friendships with many of his subcontractors.
He is survived by his wife Lori of 32 years; son Ryan (Amanda), son Nicolas (Ashley), and son Brennan; sister Peggy Soria, sister Arla Pope (Randal), and brother-in-law Kip Hohenberg (Johnna); brother-in-laws John Givens (Christina) and Richard Givens (Peggy); sister-in-law Kelli Lemken (Billy); 20 nieces and nephews and 41 great nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins, other family members and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Chester and Jeanetta Myers, maternal grandparents Lucius and Corrella Clements, sister Gretchen Hohenberg, nephew Reggie Hohenberg and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
When he wasn't building homes, he spent his time coaching his sons, and many others, in baseball, basketball, and soccer. He was a tremendous servant of God and volunteered his time teaching Bible study to middle school students and organizing service events for his sons and their fellow students.
He brought constant joy and laughter to everyone's life, using his unique and clever sense of humor. He especially focused on the youth, teaching them life lessons through sports and works of service. He made a lasting, positive impression on everyone he met and he will be missed by many.
There will be a prayer service for him on Tuesday night, September 28, starting at 7pm at French's Funeral Home on Lomas - 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. The funeral mass will be Wednesday, September 29 at 10am at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish - 2532 Vermont St NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, with an outdoor reception to follow at 200 Cottonwood Court NW, 87107.
