Kip was ushered into the presence of our Lord on Sunday, May 2, 2021, after a tragic motor vehicle accident.
Kip was born in Albuquerque, NM to Steven and Bonnie Kelly on November 10, 1978. Kip had a zest for life that was unmatched. Her unending energy coupled with her athletic and adventurous attitude, motivated her to live life to the fullest. She embraced every opportunity to be outside, whether it was riding horses with her dad, snowboarding with her children, or her most recent passion, hiking with her sister and friends. Kip was a force to be reckoned with. She lived her life with determination harnessed by dedication, exuding the perfect balance of boldness and humility. She was a pillar of strength who championed the greatest cause that exists, reflecting God’s love. She was an encourager, who inspired so many lives.
She attended Hope Christian School where she was welcomed in every social circle, students and staff alike. As chaplain of her senior class, her love for the Lord blossomed and her relationship with Christ grew. She excelled both academically and athletically. She played soccer, basketball, and despite her 5ft stature, she became the district champion running hurdles. She attended Abilene Christian University before transferring to the University of New Mexico where she completed her nursing degree in 2002. She began her nursing career on the Labor and Delivery unit at Presbyterian where she immeasurably impacted the lives of her patients and co-workers. Kip worked in the Emergency Department for a short time before returning to her passion in women’s health at the Labor and Delivery Unit at RUST. Her job allowed her to demonstrate a love that far exceeded what is expected of a nurse. This lead her on a journey of ministry and care through mission trips in the most needed areas, using her nursing expertise and love of Christ to bring aid and comfort to those in need. Her patients became extended family, many of whom remained in her life long after they were discharged.
As evidenced by her radiant smile, Kip thoroughly enjoyed life and she had so much to be proud of. Undoubtedly, her children were her greatest joy. There was nothing in this world that she loved more, and she cherished every second with them. She will live on in the countless memories engraved in their hearts. She truly set an example of how to run the race and finish well.
Kip is survived by her precious children, Kash and Jubilee Brown; her devoted parents, Steve and Bonnie Kelly; her wonderful grandmother, Mary Ellen Hedrick; and her loving siblings, Shandy Kelly (Jasper), Christina Castillo Andler (Robert), Brett Martinez (Zach), Tyler Brown (Travis) and Cole Brown (Madeline); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of close friends.
On days when grief is overwhelming, we will cling to memories of her amazing legacy and find hope in the promise of an eternal reunion. Love you sister today, tomorrow, and always.
