Kimberly Gae Champion

July 8, 1963 — March 2, 2025

Rio Rancho

Kimberly (Kim) Gae Champion, age 61, passed away on Sunday, March 2nd after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born July 8th, 1963 in Albuquerque, NM, Kim graduated from McCurdy High School in Española before spending 3 years at the College of Santa Fe, then finally finishing her degree in Business Management at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Kim spent shy of 20 years at Intel, followed by 8 years as a stay-at-home mom, 2 years with Sandoval County, and 6 years with the Rio Rancho Public Schools.

Kim will be fondly remembered as a caring and dedicated mother, a lover of animals, and an enjoyer of music. From a young age, Kim knew she wanted to have a child of her own and was an incredible mom with so much love in her heart, which she shared with her son constantly. Her love of animals was seen in the home she made for every dog and cat who found their way into her life. When not spending time with family or pets, she could be found listening to her favorite songs from Elton John or whatever music her son may have coerced her into listening to that she would grow to enjoy as well.

Kim leaves behind her son, Angelo, her brothers, Kyle (Elizabeth) and Darryl (Sharon), and parents, Roscoe and Barbara.

Services will be held at French Funerals & Cremations, 1275 Unser Blvd NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144 on April 5th, 2025 starting at 11:00 AM followed by a reception.

"I hope you don't mind that I put down in words how wonderful life is while you're in the world." - Elton John
