Kevin Bruce Rygg, age 55, peacefully passed away in his sleep on February 16, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM.
Born on December 2, 1969, in Santa Monica, CA, Kevin was the first child of Gwendolyn "Wendy" (Gardner) and Bruce Glenn Rygg. From a young age, he treasured memories of his early years with his father, mother, and younger brother, Michael. The family experienced profound loss when Bruce passed away from cancer in 1976, and shortly thereafter, Wendy, Kevin, and Michael moved to Los Alamos, NM, to be closer to Wendy's parents.
In New Mexico, Kevin embraced the natural beauty around him--hiking the Jemez mountains behind his home, exploring his interest in cars, and participating in Boy Scouts. A bit of mischief was always close at hand, but Kevin's curiosity and adventurous spirit guided him through his youth. Wendy later remarried to Allan Hauer, and Kevin welcomed his sister, Amanda, into the family.
Kevin graduated from Los Alamos High School and went on to earn both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accountancy. He achieved both CFA and CFP certifications and worked in wealth management throughout his career, with pride and dedication to helping others secure their financial futures.
In 2009, Kevin met his partner in life, Brenda. They married on December 12, 2012, in Choteau, Montana, at precisely 12:12 pm--a detail Kevin cherished and often mentioned, proudly revealing their wedding rings engraved with the unforgettable date and time. Together, Kevin and Brenda celebrated their twelfth anniversary in December 2024. Kevin and Brenda loved discussing ideas and projects, taking road trips, listening to music, and above all laughing together. Kevin supported Brenda's hobbies with all his heart, especially her love of animals, welcoming every new furry friend she brought into their home.
An avid traveler, Kevin embraced every opportunity to explore new places, whether for work or pleasure. His passions for learning, art, and music were lifelong pursuits, with a particular love for the guitar. He eventually began crafting his own electric cigar box guitars, building an amplifier from scratch, and enjoying the community of like-minded creators he found along the way.
Those who knew Kevin best were touched by his kindness, sensitivity, and quiet wisdom. He valued his family and friendships above all else. He recognized sincerity and lived his life with it. He sought out beauty, love, and excellence throughout his days. He lived a life of quiet compassion and service, frequently creating spontaneous and personal gifts, notes, jokes, and stories to surprise loved ones, but never broadcasting his gestures. He was an avid reader and a deep thinker. He watched and listened to others with care and intention.
Kevin, your absence leaves a deep void, but we take comfort in knowing you are now reunited with loved ones who greeted you with open arms. You are forever loved and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you. Until we meet again, our dear husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
