Kerchieviel Robert "Bob" York

December 13, 1927 — May 29, 2014

Bob, age 86, was born December 13, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Albuquerque with his parents at the age of three, where he has resided ever since. He met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Ann Williams, in 1945. They had been married 68 years at the time of his passing on Thursday, May 29, 2014. He was a devoted, loving and nurturing father and grandfather to his three children, as well as his five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Bob was a great role model, teacher and friend. He was a man of God and a deacon in the church. Over the years, he was a member of Riverside, Parkview and Tijeras Baptist Churches. Bob started working in paint shops at the age of 14 and was well respected in the auto painting community. He was often requested and in demand as a professional automotive painter who never released an inferior product. He was a true man of character and integrity. Bob worked as a paint shop manager at several locations in the city, including Newbill's Paint and Body and Sunshine Buick, eventually retiring from Lloyd McKee's. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. These trips to the wilderness always revolved around multi-generations of his family. He passed on his knowledge and love of hunting and fishing to his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his bride of 68 years, Evelyn; three children and their spouses, Joyce Ann and husband, Tillman (T.D.), Richard and his wife, Yolanda, and Brad and his wife, Loretta; five grandchildren, Eric McCarson, Grant McCarson, Marshal York, Michelle York Bell and Adam York; ten great-grandchildren, Wesley McCarson, Trevor McCarson, Damon York, Haleigh York, Savannah York, Tatum York, Malec York, Emily Olejnik, Drew Olejnik and Arthur York; niece, Norma Loos; other nieces and nephews; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Bob was preceded in death by infant son, Robert Stephen York; sister, June Shirley; niece, Marilyn Matthews; nephew, Bruce Shirley; and his parents, Kerchieviel Everest York and Willie Mae Parker York. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014, 3:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University Chapel.
