Kenneth Gordon Kraus

d. April 7, 2021

Kenneth Gordon Kraus, age 82, of Edgewood, New Mexico passed away Wednesday, April 7th, 2021.

Ken was born on February 5th, 1939 in Logan, Utah to Gordon Arnold and Erma Fern (Chambers) Kraus.  Ken married his sweetheart, Marjorie (Jenson) Kraus on June 24th, 1966 in the Logan, Utah Temple.  Ken served in the United States Navy for 3 years. He received a bachelor’s degree from Weber State University (formerly Weber State College) in Ogden, Utah, and a Masters in Business Administration from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. Ken worked for the Lowry Air Force Accounting and Finance Center in Denver, Colorado, for over 20 years.

Ken loved spending time with family, especially camping and site-seeing. His grandchildren know him as the tickle-monster—tickling his children and grandchildren whenever he had the chance. Ken loved reading them stories and overseeing their games. He loved music. Even though he couldn’t carry a tune, he’d sing at home for the fun of it and enjoyed learning to play the guitar and asking family to guess the song. Ken loved books and history, with a preference for non-fiction. He especially loved the scriptures and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Ken was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has served in various positions including a High-Priest Group Leader, a High-Councilman, and a Primary worker, in addition to serving in the Albuquerque temple for 8 years.

Ken and Marjorie were blessed with six wonderful children, sixteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren:  Val and his wife Wendy, and their children—Zachary and his wife Autumn and their two children Oliver and Lily, Joshua, Leah, and Noah; Jennifer, their beloved stillborn daughter; Garth and his wife Julie, and their children—Alex, Avery, Seth (deceased), Troy and Sasha; Janae; Shawn and his wife Amy, and their three boys—Benjamin, Sam, and Mason; and Brett and his wife Danielle, and their children—Tyler, Ezekiel, Addie and Emerie.  All of Ken and Marjorie’s surviving children served honorable missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Ken was preceded in death by 3 siblings: Shirley Wilcock of Tuscon, Arizona; Shiela Horton of Sunset, Utah, and Richard Kraus of Fresno, California.  He is survived by 2 siblings: Dottie Classick of Tennessee, and David Kraus of Ogden, Utah.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 16th, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Edgewood, New Mexico.  Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m.  Ken will be laid to rest at the Stanley Cemetery in Stanley, New Mexico.
