Kelly G. (Moore) Helvie

On the fourth of May 2017, the world lost a bright light when Kelly G. Helvie was called home by God. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.  Kelly was born July 14, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her family moved to New Mexico in 1971. She is survived by her sons, Stuart Thomas Helvie and Kurtis William, his wife, Robyn; daughter, Aubree G. Helvie; and her other children, Jack, Bridie, and Shaelin; her mother, Lena Carole Moore-Shores; her sister, Cathy A.; brother-in-law, Donald; nephew, Matthew P. McCurdy, and numerous extended family members.  She was proceeded by her father, William G. Moore and step-father, Quincy C. Shores.  She was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother that raised her two children.  Kelly will be missed by all who knew her.  She touched the lives and hearts of everyone she met with her positive attitude and faith in God.  She coordinated the trash removal for the Albuquerque International Balloon fiesta for over 20 years.  Kelly was the president of the New Mexico Quilters Association, a member of the Albuquerque Ducks Unlimited chapter for 20 years as treasurer and was a volunteer at Sagebrush Riverside church.  She was appointed by the governor of New Mexico to serve as the secretary of the I.D.E.A. committee.  Kelly was an advocate for specially needs individual’s in Albuquerque public schools.  She was also involved in many other community activities.  To her family, she was always at the center of bringing her family together.   To her children and her nephew, she was a super hero that was always there through good and bad.  To her friends, she was the rock of sound advice and comical jokes.  A heartfelt thank you to our extended family and friends for their loving care and assistance.  A special thanks to Casper Montoya for all you have done for Kelly and her family.  Kelly will always be in our hearts and we will be able to see and talk to her in our dreams.  Friends may visit Thursday, May 11, 2017, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas.  A Funeral Service will be Friday, May 12, 2017, 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas with casual dress.
