Kathryn Agnes (Rich) Harvey

Kathryn Agnes Harvey (95), a long-time resident of Albuquerque New Mexico, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at home.

Born in East Point Georgia on Wednesday, April 6, 1927, to Clyde and Agnes Rich, she was called “Sister” by her parents and siblings (Clyde Jr, Betty, and Mildred) and Kitty by her friends. Later her family moved to Gulf Hammock, Florida, where she volunteered as a watcher in the US Army Aircraft Warning Service, a system made up of civilian spotters keeping watch over the US to prevent a surprise attack by German aircraft. After high school, she joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corps attending and graduating from nursing school at the Macon Hospital School of Nursing in Macon Georgia. It was at the Macon Hospital that she met Dr. James D. Harvey, who was completing his medical internship. They were married Saturday, December 13, 1947, in Macon and were later blessed to have seven children together at multiple locations the Army sent them. In 1965, the Army sent them to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She loved her family, gardening, bird watching, and her beloved pets Lady and Molly.

Kitty was preceded in joining our Lord in Heaven by her parents, Clyde and Agnes Rich; her brother, Clyde Rich Jr; her husband, James; and oldest son, James Jr.
She is survived by her six children, Robert and wife Karen; son, Randall and wife, Jayne; son, William and wife Valerie; son, Steven and wife Danielle; daughter, Cynthia; and son, Richard and wife, Louise.
Kitty is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Betty Nixon and Mildred Clements, as well as nieces and nephews.

There will be a private service with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery where Kitty will be reunited with her husband James.
