Kathryn Lee Gutierrez

Kathy left us on June 20, 2021 after a long illness to be with God in heaven. She was born May 5, 1951 in Albuquerque, NM. Kathy's life revolved around her love of music and her long career as a part of the music scene along with many friends she met. She was a powerful singer in local bands including The Gin Mill Band, Spiced Ice, and Cadillac Bob and the Rhinestones. Along with her longtime friends and fellow Rhinestones, Joan Cere and Denise Brissey-Cohen, she performed for over 30 years and created a following that culminated in the annual Cadillac Bob and the Rhinestones Christmas party at the El Rey Theatre. Many old friends and later on even their children attended. she loved to sing, she loved her music, she loved her friends, and she loved her family.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Trini Gutierrez. She is survived by her brother, Frank Gutierrez and wife Kathy of Las Cruces; her sister, Carol MacIvor and husband Rob of Albuquerque; her nieces Stacy Phaires, husband Charles, and children Chad and Ryan of Lubbock, TX; Jean McDaniel, husband Casey, and children Mia and Cole of Windsor, CO; Robyn Bucher, husband Steve, and children Isaiah and Josiah of Colorado Springs, CO; and nephew Duncan MacIvor of Albuquerque, NM. Along with her family, many cousins and friends such as Denise Brissey-Cohen, Joan Cere, and Mallory Davidson. Kathy will be missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held July 17, 2021 at 2 p.m., at Fusion Forum, 708 1st St. NW.
