Kathleen Ann "Kate" (Zimmerman) Winkel

Kathleen Ann "Kate" Winkel (Zimmerman), age 70, died June 14, 2015. Kate was born December 2, 1944 to Leona and Charles Zimmerman of Stillwater, MN. She and her husband, Tom Winkel, moved to Santa Fe in 1973 where they remained for over 20 years. During this time, Kate worked at several popular restaurants while raising their children. Most recently, they lived in Albuquerque where Kate was an Education Assistance for the Albuquerque Public Schools. Kate is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tom of Albuquerque; son, Joshua (Rosie) of Albuquerque; daughter, Anna (Brian) of Winter Park, CO; grandsons, Reece, Peyton and Stanley; siblings, John, Bob (Christy), Dick (Nancy), Mary Aronson and Barb (Steven) Moll, all of Minnesota; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was quite close with her brother-in-law, Mark (Heather) Winkel of Cochiti Lake, NM. Kate was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jennifer; and her brothers, Michael and Mark. Memorial Services will be held Friday, June 19, 2015, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the New Mexico Association for the Education of Young Children (nmaeyc.org.)
