Katherine (Katy) Chacon

Katherine (Katy) Chacon, 79, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was called to her eternal resting place Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She entered this world on October 30, 1943 in Gallup, NM, born to Joe and Adelia Lopez. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Chacon; grandsons, Aiden Chacon, Jacob Austin, and Darrien Chacon; aunt, Rosie Lopez; sisters, Marcella Garcia (Richard) and Maria Lopez; brothers, Lawrence and Andrew Lopez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sons, Vincent and Victor Chacon; husband, Henry Chacon; parents, Joe and Adelia Lopez; sister, Bernadette Lopez; and brothers, Anthony, Robert, and Vincent Lopez.

Katherine was very involved with her grandson, Aiden, and all his functions. Katherine loved to host parties. She was a fabulous cook and baker. She enjoyed bingo and going to the casino; her favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A Rosary will be recited Thursday, October 26, 2023, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. A Mass will be given on Friday, October 27, 2023, 9:00 a.m., at St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 3424 4th St. NW. Katy will be buried at Mt. Calvary Cemetery following the Mass. Pallbearers will be Andrew Lopez, Mario Vigil, Andrew Griner, Anthony Arellano, Richard Garcia, and Paul Lopez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Margie Lopez, Carla Marquez, and Richard Medina.  A lunch reception will follow at the Moose Lodge, 2121 Edith Blvd. NE.
