Karen Marie (Sondergaard) Rogillio

Karen Marie Rogillio, 66, of Albuquerque passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023. She was born Thursday, February 28, 1957 in upstate New York to George and Ingrid Sondergaard.

She grew up in Houston, TX and graduated from Sharpstown High School. Growing up, she enjoyed playing various sports and loved dancing. Karen moved to Albuquerque in 1984 to raise her boys near family. She was very crafty and was most recently interested in making very beautiful cards for family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, specifically her grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored. When asked what her proudest accomplishment in life was, she said it was her sons and their families.

She was preceded in death by her father, Father George Sondergaard; little sister, Anne Marie Sondergaard-Couch; uncle, Gerald Sondergaard; brother-in-law, Luke Ruffino II; and niece, Ashley Sondergaard. She is survived by her mother, Ingrid Sondergaard; sons Joseph Rogillio and wife, Melissa, Justin Rogillio and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Tyler, Emma, Logan, Brycen, Jackson, and Harper; brother, Rolf Sondergaard and wife, Marina; sisters, Christine Ruffino, Teresa Balthrop, and Clare Gibson; nieces and nephews, Nicole, Aaron-Michael, Marissa, Nicci, Luke III, Jason, Jennifer, Joshua, Dillon, Ashley, Travis, Alexxa, and Michael; many great nieces and nephews; best friend, Tracy; and brothers-in-law, Robert Gibson, Tom Couch, and Kirby Balthrop.

Karen was a beloved mother and Nanny (grandmother), daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed dearly by her family and those who knew her. She had a unique way of drawing people to her and touched so many lives with her fun, loving, and kind spirit.

Services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, at FRENCH- Lomas. The Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. The Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE. A Memorial Reception will follow the burial at the Moose Lodge, 12825 Skyline Road NE.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Rogillio, Justin Rogillio, Tyler Fox, Jason Balthrop, Travis Gibson, Rolf Sondergaard, Luke Ruffino III, Joshua Balthrop, Aaron-Michael Calvillo, Michael Couch, Logan Rogillio, and Brycen Rogillio. The Honorary Pallbearer will be Emma Rogillio.

Donations may be made to the family in lieu of flowers.
