Juyn Ruth Krumm

November 18, 1924 — April 9, 2018

Juyn Ruth Krumm, was born November 18, 1924, and passed away April 9, 2018, in Phoenix, AZ, while visiting her son. She was born in Wittenberg, WI, to George and Hazel Christensen. Juyn attended High School in Wausau, WI, where she skipped a grade in high school and graduated at age seventeen. Upon graduation she embarked on an adventure that took her to the Panama Canal Zone to work for the Panama Canal Company. While in Panama, Juyn met and married Robert H. Orr, Sr. They moved back to the states in the late 1940’s to Houston, TX, where they had three sons. In July of 1960, Juyn and her three sons moved to Albuquerque, NM, where, as a single mother, she raised the boys until 1968. She married Allen D. Krumm on June 5, 1968. Juyn was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission where she began as a Public Affairs Assistant in the Albuquerque Operations Office of the Energy Research and Development Administration. Juyn was often recognized for her superior work and worked her way up the ranks in what is now the Department of Energy (DOE). Her work for DOE included the declassification of Secret Documents and took her to witness the detonation of at least one Atomic Bomb. She was instrumental in establishing what is now the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History located in Albuquerque and served as its curator for many years. After retiring from DOE she served Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church as the church secretary for 10 years.

Juyn was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and the family matriarch. She was also known as Mom, GG, Grandma, and Grandma Juyn, and she loved all her extended family of children and grandchildren. She loved to travel with her husband Allen, having visited every continent in the world except the Arctic and Antarctica.

Juyn is survived by her three sons, Robert Orr (wife Mary) of Corpus Christi, TX, Ross Orr (partner Jerry Andris) of Phoenix, AZ, and Randy Orr (wife Joyce) of Albuquerque, NM, and daughter, Kris Clark (husband Jean) of Rockwall, TX, and eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one-great great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hazel Christensen; her husband, Allen D. Krumm; three sisters, and two children, Allen (Butch) Krumm and Judith Krumm.
