Julia W. Griego

GRIEGO, Julia W. Age 80, of Guadalupita, NM, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Griego; and her brothers, Bob, Carl, Jerry and Bonny Williams. Julia is survived by her children, Patrick Griego, Robert and wife, Denise Griego, Lydia and husband, Rod Hansen, Kathy and husband, David Blanchard, and Sidney Griego; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Justeen, Ariana, Andrew, Shane, Cameron, Crystal, Roy, Veronica and Josiah; great-grandson, Zachery; a daughter-in-law, Norma Griego; two sisters-in-law, Cordelia Vigil and Tilly Pacheco; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Julia was an incredibly strong, vibrant woman, who loved her family, friends, and community passionately. She had an amazing zest for life. She worked hard at home and at various jobs throughout her life. She was a devoted member of St. Gertrude's Church in Mora, NM, and volunteered her time with several organizations, including the Mora Headstart. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of Ambercare Hospice and Palliative Care Association. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of her life and the blessing of the time we spent with her. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Mora with a rosary on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., and the Mass of Christian Burial honoring Julia on Monday, October 13, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Guadalupita, NM.
