Judy Ann Villas

November 15, 1948 — May 2, 2016

Judy Ann Villas was born in Albuquerque, NM November 15, 1948 and was called to be with her Lord and Savior on May 2, 2016.
She is survived by her devout husband, J. Nestor Villas; daughter, Esther Wingfield (Sean), daughter, Dr. Angelina Villas-Adams (Buddy), daughter-in-law, Emily Villas; and grandchildren, Rachel, Emma, Isabella, Sophia, Olivia and Everett Jude. Her brothers and sisters mourning her passing are: Ernestina, Cruz (Lucy), Lillian (Walter), Steve (Irene), Anthony (Charlene), Andrew (Veronica), and David (Lupita), as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Esther Baca; her parents-in-law, Hipolito and Dolores Villas; her brother, Ernest (Tito) Baca; and her beloved son, Ernie Villas.
She passed away after a two and a half month battle of fighting to recover from a life threatening condition requiring surgery that had unfortunate complications. She died with her family surrounding her. She is at peace.
She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1966, and she was always proud to a bulldog. She worked at Mountain Bell for 20 years and retired as an engineer to start her second profession as a full-time mom. She was a devout Catholic and served with passion in her church. She was at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Church of the Risen Savior with Father Paul Baca and Archbishop Sanchez. She was passionate about religious education and served as the confirmation coordinator for eight years. Through her church, she and her husband were intricately involved with the Knights of Columbus organization, whose members and families were her extended family.
She enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband and was fortunate enough to experience many wonders of the world. Her passion and greatest joys in life, however, were her children and grandchildren. She "raised" many children in her life, caring for nieces, nephews, and friends. She was an amazing cook, and a gifted and creative artist.
Rosary will be recited Wednesday, May 11, 2016, 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Donations can be made in Judy's memory to Lupus Foundation of America at www.lupus.org.
