Judith A. "Judi" Nechero

January 9, 1941 — August 28, 2015

Judith A. "Judi" Nechero of Albuquerque, NM passed away on August 28, 2015. She was 74 years old. She was born in Wichita, KS on January 9, 1941 to Rolland R. Watson and Wanda "Fern" Watson (Shipley). After receiving a degree in elementary education from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS she taught for several years in the Kansas City area. In 1963 she married William C. "Bill" Witter and they had two daughters together, Trina Witter and Trisha Witter. Judi lived her adult life in New Mexico and loved everything about it; the food, the music, the culture, the history. She passed on this love to her daughters throughout their lives and the family took many week-end trips to visit historic sites, fiestas, museums, or music events all over NM. When her daughters were school age, she was a stay at home mom lovingly preparing meals, sewing clothes, leading Girl Scout meetings, and being an ardent supporter of their activities at school, especially the school band. In later years she worked for the Public Regulation Commission under commissioners Gloria Tristani and David King. Her commitment to her community, the arts and civic organizations led her to serve on many boards and organizations including the Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Girls Club, Junior Women's Club, Albuquerque Art Museum, and most recently the Republican Women of Bernalillo County. She was a consummate hostess and cook who loved to entertain and spend time with her friends who filled her life with great joy. A lover of travel, Judi spent many years in her retirement traveling around Europe, North America, and the Mediterranean. Another retirement hobby was to be a movie "extra" and she appeared most notably in Wild Hogs and Comanche Moon. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerrold Watson; Bill Witter, and James "Jim" Nechero. Judi is survived by her two daughters, Trina Witter (Eric Liefeld) and Trisha Witter; and her grandchildren whom she adored and loved to show off to friends: Dilara, Rigel, William "Hasan" and Averey. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, the American Cancer Society or your local Animal Humane Society.
