Juanita Houidobre

Juanita Houidobre, Age 94, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on March 14, 2025, surrounded by loving family.

Juanita was born July 18th, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Peter Joseph Giovengo and Marie Loretta [Chavez] Giovengo.

Juanita graduated from High School in 1947.

Juanita [Giovengo] married Randal Houidobre on September 4, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They were married for 58 years. Juanita is survived by: children Stephen, Suzette, Shirley and Evelyn, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Juanita was a member of Self-Realization fellowship and was initiated in the practice of Kriya Yoga. Later she would travel several times to India to see Sathya Sai Baba and start the Sai Baba Center of Albuquerque in the 1980s.

Juanita was a volunteer for many years at Presbyterian Hospital downtown by transporting patients in wheelchairs, working in the gift shop, and crocheting baby blankets & scarves to be given out to mothers in need.

Preceding Juanita in death are spouse, Randal; children, Sidney and Stephanie.
