Juanita Garcia Bercier, a coal miner's daughter, was born March 28, 1936 in Dawson New Mexico to Amelia Lopez Garcia and Jose Marcos Garcia. She passed away on May 12, 2024 at the age of 88, with her loving husband by her side.
Juanita was one of three children, brother Pat Garcia and sister Mary Frances Reza. She is survived by her husband, Eli Bercier and son Dwayne Bercier; her granddaughters Nicolle Bercier, April Bercier, Danielle Bercier, Elizabeth Alvarenga, and Jenna Bercier, grandsons Andrew Martinez, Louis Bercier, and Cameron Bercier along with 21 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Juanita was a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1950, when her family moved here due to the closing of the coal mines in Dawson. There she attended Albuquerque High School and then graduated from the first graduating class of Valley High School in 1955. Juanita worked as a secretary for the Army Nuclear Division on base up until her retirement where she then devoted all her loving time with her husband, Eli Bercier, two sons, Dwayne and Craig Bercier, and many grandchildren. She was a beloved member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
A rosary for Juanita will be held Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00pm at the French Funeral's Chapel at 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE. A mass will be held Thursday, May 23rd at 9:00am at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th Street NW. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery beginning at 11:00am.Wednesday, May 22, 2024
