Joyce Willis King

Joyce Willis King, age 90, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024. She was the second child born to Ansley and Joyce Herring Willis. She was blessed with one sister and three brothers. Joyce was born at home in Jena, Louisiana, on September 29, 1933. Upon graduation from Jena High School in 1951, Joyce made her home in Shreveport, Louisiana. She married Harry G. King in 1955, and had a wonderful career working for the telephone company. She enjoyed making Care Bears for the Telephone Pioneers of America and other projects. Her talent at sewing, quilting, and dress construction has been enjoyed and cherished by many in the family. After moving to Albuquerque in 2000, she became a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa King Boyer, her granddaughter Christy Boyer, siblings Buddy Willis (Sue), Pat Dosher (Joe), James Willis (Cheryl) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother (Norman "Sonny" Willis), her husband, and her son-in-law (Bob Boyer).

A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 am at Centuries Memorial Cemetery in Shreveport, LA for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Stephen's United Methodist Church https://www.ststephensabq.org/giving
