Josephine McClelland Johnston Smith

Formerly of Louisville, KY, passed away on October 5, 2013 at age 103. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy William Smith and she is survived by her daughter, Jane Durkee of Albuquerque; her grandson, William "Hal" Durkee of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her granddaughter, Susan Durkee-Geilenfeldt and husband, Paul of Taos Ski Valley, NM and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A secretary before marriage, she was a homemaker throughout 52 years of marriage. She was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Louisville. Her home during her final three years was Brookdale Place at Valencia in Albuquerque. She had a zest for living and was beloved by her family and friends. The family expresses appreciation and thanks to all the staff and caregivers at Brookdale and to Hospice of NM for their outstanding care and attention. She will be interred at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, KY.
