Josephine Margaret Dominguez

Josephine Margaret Dominguez died on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 96. Born in 1918 in Bueyeros, New Mexico, she was a direct descendent of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Baca, the Spanish explorer who came to New Mexico in the early 1500's. Her early years were spent on her family's ranch in Bueyeros, NM and later in Clayton, NM where she attended high school. She was married to her beloved husband, George Dominguez for 76 years, before his passing in December, 2011. Josephine was a devoted wife and a caring and loving mother to her four children. During WWII, while her husband was serving in the South Pacific, she alone cared for their four children. Her husband George's career with the US Army Corps of Engineers brought the family to Albuquerque in the 1940's, where they lived for most of their lives. Josephine was a woman of deep faith, strong character and conviction. She enjoyed the companionship of family, neighbors and friends. She is survived by her four children, Don Dominguez of Midland, TX, Lawrence Dominguez and wife Margaret of Annandale, VA, Rita Chavez and husband Lolo and Barbara Calderon of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to Bernadette, Audra and Melissa for their tender care of Mrs. Dominguez. Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 9, 2015, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Mass will be celebrated Friday, April, 10, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE at Morningside. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kathy Kilgore, Michael Dominguez, Kimberly Dominguez, Marie Therese Dominguez, Christa Gormley, Damian Calderon, Melanie Calderon, Margaret Kerg, and her nephew, Ramon Garcia. Memorial contributions may be made to our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
