Joseph Ortega

Joseph R Ortega (Joe), 72 of Albuquerque passed away on Monday April 15, 2024, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. He was born June 22, 1951, in Roswell New Mexico to Irenio and Esther (Estella) Ortega. Joe graduated from Roswell High School and went on to receive his bachelor's in business administration from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. Joe was the Executive Director of Region IV Housing Authority for over 13 years. He went on to work for the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority in Albuquerque, and on to YES Housing Inc. where he eventually retired after twenty years of service. Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years JoAnn Ortega. His daughter Stacy Ortega-Gonzales, and husband Chris Gonzales of Albuquerque. Son David Ortega of Albuquerque. Grandchildren: RayAnn Ortega-Gonzales, Isaiah Ortega, Emilia Ortega-Gonzales, Ashley Ortega, JoAnn Ortega-Patterson, Marisa Posen, Stacy-Ann Santillan, Manuel Santillan, and great-grandchildren: Adrian Ortega. Siblings: Selma Brown of Roswell, New Mexico, Irenio Ortega of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Joann Archuleta of Roswell, New Mexico. Joe was also close to his brother in laws: Vernon Aguilar and Ervin Aguilar of Roswell, NM. And his Godson: Stephen Aguilar of Roswell, NM. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he loved dearly. Joe is proceeded in death by his daughter April Ortega Santillan, parents Irenio and Esther (Estella) Ortega, niece, Sky Chambers Sister-In Laws: Barbara Aguilar, and Carmen Aguilar. A visitation will be held Friday, Aril 26, 2024 at 11:00 am- 1:00pm at French- University. A memorial service will be held at Sagebrush Church 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm 6440 Coors Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. Reception to follow at the American Legion Duran y Gallegos Post 9000 4th St NW. Pallbearers will be Irenio Ortega, Oscar Suarez, Vernon Aguilar, Stephen Aguilar, Adrian Ortega, Isaiah Ortega. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ervin Aguilar, RayAnn Ortega-Gonzales, Emilia Ortega-Gonzales, Chris Gonzales
