Joseph George Muhlberger

Joseph George Muhlberger, age 78, was born March 31, 1936 in Gary, Indiana. On May 16, 2014 surrounded by his family, Joe went to the Lord to receive the gift of eternal life. He was preceded in passing by parents, Josef and Mary Muhlberger, brothers, Max T. and John M. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Antonia; son, Joseph B. and wife Linda; grandsons, Andrew and Evan; son, Thomas R. and Neva Joan Lindburg; son, John P. and Kathryn Schumacher; and daughter, Mary Angela. Joe attended Holy Angels Catholic High School in Gary, IN. After Joe's graduation from Valparaiso Technical Institute he was offered a position at White Sands Missile Range/ Holloman Air Force Base working for Land Air/Dynalectron/Dyncorp. Joe then continued his educational pursuits by obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University, Master of Business Administration from The University of New Mexico, and a Master of Finance, Financial Management from Webster University. During his tenure of 40 plus years with Land Air/Dynalectron/Dyncorp Joe held positions of: Manager of Holloman AFB High Speed Test Track Photographic Operations, Scientific Support Division Manager, Manager of Quality assurance, and Quality assurance Director. Elected President to the Professional Aerospace Contractors Association and participated in the World Land Speed Record at the Holloman AFB High Speed Test Track. He received the Commander's Special Recognition, White Sands Missile Range, from Richard W. Warton, Brigadier General, USA. Joe obtained Certified Professional Contract Manager certification June 16, 1971, Lifetime Professional Contract Manager Certification April 21, 1998. He was elected to the status of National Contract Management Association (NCMA) FELLOW May 9, 1984 and was elected President of NCMA ZIA Chapter 1990. He developed lifetime friendships with members of the NCMA organization and his clients. Joe taught Government Contracting at the University of New Mexico Business Development Department. During the end of his tenure and through retirement from Land Air/Dynalectron/Dyncorp Joe became a Certified Financial planner and registered investment advisor representative at Cetera Advisor Networks LLC where he worked full time to present. He also developed the workbook entitled PREPARING AND SITTING FOR THE CPCM EXAM SUCCESSFULLY, January 1984. He also lived a life of service devoted to others through serving as a Board Member for the Catholic Foundation, Board Member of Catholic Charities, Board Member at Father James B. Hay School Alamogordo, Board Member at St Pius X High School, Member of the Matthew 25 society, Institute for Certified Financial Planners, Financial Planning Association, NCMA Rio Grande Chapter, member of Diocesan Ecclesiastical Institute, Council Member of the Knights of Columbus and devoted parishioner at St. John XXIII Catholic Community. Joe was a provider, protector, and leader. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His unconditional love will endure forever as he cherished his family and his faith above all things. Rosary will be recited Friday, May 23, 2014, 7:00 p.m., at St. John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 24, 2014, 10:00 a.m., also at St. John XXIII Catholic Community. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
