He left the military on Sept 4th, 1951, after serving his 4 years. He served on a submarine in Korea and made the most out of his time there exploring and meeting new people. He was very proud of his service and maintained his American Legion Membership for 70 years. And very proud of his Acoma heritage.

He was married on leap year Feb 29th, 1952, to Shirley Joyce Pettis-Hunt. They had 2 daughters Patricia Hunt-Aversa and Kelly Hunt-Melillo. They were married for 52 years until her passing. He was always the best "girl daddy" for his daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughter.

Eddie worked at Toledo Scales as a technician. He loved traveling often for work. He was the biggest "handy man" and enjoyed fixing things. He had every screw and tool you could ever imagine. He was always witty and had funny things to say. He had an infectious laugh. And made everyone around him happy. He was an avid swing dancer and loved music. He loved Vegas and spent time at shows, casinos with the "Rat Pack," his close friends. He was always working on something and never sat down. He enjoyed Indian singing and dancing with his grandkids. He's from Acoma Sky City pueblo reservation. He was the best storyteller.

He was a family man and spent time caring for his Uncle Wilbert Hunt during his old age. He was the best caretaker of Uncle Will and his wife Shirley and always the hardest working person.

Eddie was loved by everyone he met. He was adored by his grandchildren, Smraa, Summer, Sahar, Abude Saidi and Phillip Empey and great-grandchildren Antonio, Mauricio Devargas and Cali-Rose Empey. They idolized their grandpa and wanted to be just like him. He loved his grandchildren and spent lots of time with them. He was a one-of-a kind man. A special soul that will never be replaced. His beautiful life will always be celebrated and remembered by his children and grandchildren. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be greatly & deeply missed by his family and friends.
