Joseph (Joey) Louis Bufalino III left this world on Thursday, August 17th, 2023. Joey was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Tuesday, December 4th, 1990, and spent his childhood between California and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He loved his family and friends above everything else and lived by the code and the creed: be fair, be kind, be considerate, be honest, help as many people as you can every day of your life.
Joey made sure that anybody that he cared for would lack for nothing that he could provide to the best of his abilities. One of his great passions was cooking meals for everyone around him. To be sure, you could not get a better lasagna, ribs, or Eggplant Parmesan than Joey's.
Nobody could light up a room like Joey. If you weren't smiling before you talked to him, he would damn well make sure you were after. He was quick with a joke, a story, and a compliment (of which he had plenty). Joey was exceptional at feeling and showing empathy, compassion and gratitude as well.
As a young child, he often traveled on the road with his father, a show tour manager. Whether he was speeding around on golf carts, or sleeping in a hammock under the stage, he added a special vibrancy and joy to each show. He also enjoyed going on adventurous and insightful trips with his mom and sister. One of Joey's driving motivations was an insatiable curiosity. He was always asking questions from the time he could talk, and he stayed that way. He wanted to see and know how everyone lives. As an adult, Joey continued to live out incredible adventures like climbing volcanoes, skydiving, scuba diving, cave kayaking, and visiting all varieties of places.
Joey was adventurous, mischievous, a daredevil, a world traveler, a justice fighter, and a loving friend and family member. He worked incredibly hard every day, throwing everything he had into making sure he was the best at everything he did. He became the youngest Assistant Director ever in New Mexico as well as one of the youngest new members to be accepted in the Director's Guild of America. To know Joey was to love him. He was so incredibly treasured by his family, friends, and all those who depended on him. Whether you called him Joe, Joey, or any other nickname you knew him by, you could bet that he would live life on his terms and know that he also had your back.
He is survived by his mother, Pam Rosen; father, Joe Bufalino; sibling Rowan Rosen; godmother Deana Murray; dog Bosphorus; many aunts; 900 uncles and extended family members, the many television shows and films that he helped make happen, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed for the rest of our lives. Joey, your brilliant light will always live on in our hearts and minds, and your stories will go on.
A Memorial Service for Joey will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Revel ABQ Event Center. FRENCH-Lomas is in charge of arrangements.
