Jose Larry Serna

Jose Larry Serna, 73, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1951, in Sedillo, New Mexico to Jose Maria Serna and Lucinda (Jaramillo) Serna.

Larry worked in the telecommunications industry for 42 years. He was married for 53 years to his high school sweetheart, Phyllis (Maldonado) Serna. Larry and Phyllis had two children, Larry Serna and Patricia Serna; and three grandchildren, Noah Chavez, Phoebe Olivia Isabella Serna, and Conner Beggs. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, eight sisters, and one brother.

Larry was an inspirational, spiritual man who walked by faith. He embodied incredible strength and courage. His relationship with God was displayed in many aspects of his life; he prayed and meditated daily and shared scripture with loved ones to lift them during challenging times. He never turned down his loved ones' requests for help and he always listened when they needed him the most.

Larry was exceedingly kind, patient, hard-working, and dedicated to his family. He had a great sense of humor and would often tell jokes. He enjoyed listening to music, singing, cooking, and baking. He was always gardening, landscaping, and completing home improvement projects. Two of Larry's greatest loves (aside from his wife, children, and grandchildren) were sports and his furry best friend, Kitty.

Memorial services in celebration of Larry will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87105. Mass will be on Monday, April 15th at 9:00 a.m. with burial services to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque NM, 87102.
